A thought came to me this last weekend, how many of us have actually met in person?
What I mean is, how many of us internet racer types have met each other on AF and other such websites and met in person? I bring this up because this past Memorial day weekend a fellow AF'er Bulldog71ss traveled out from blazing hot Arizona, to sunny southern California to visit a friend. He sent me a PM a few weeks back saying that he might be out here in May. We kept in contact over the coming weeks and when he got out here we exchanged numbers (ladies I've got his digits, PM for details ) and we met up at his buddies place. All I've got to say is that I've gained respect for that asshole. He's a down right chill guy to hang out with and ultimately talk cars with. Even if he is playing Nintendo Wii Golf with his buddy while smoking a Hookah. ![]() A few other members throughout the years that I've met and have all been really cool to meet: 2000LS1Z28 (Bobby), DannoSS, Igor, Jay, FatNinja19 (who you folks may not remember) and personal friends that I knew before AF, TerminalVelocity (the other Matt) and DMC12 (Tom). Others that I've met through phone calls like Carrrnuttt (Arcie), ac427cpe (Dan the Man), Josh (who likes to leave me drunken texts) and CivRacer (Christian). Now I don't bring this up to toot my own horn or anything of that nature... but since I've met these guys and talked to or in some cases met off line I learned who they really are. So, your mission should you choose to accept it. I challenge you kids this summer, to go out and try your best to meet any AF member you can. Let us know who they are... we only know who they are from what they type. Personality and mannerisms are hard to tell through poorly written postings on a website. Everybody lives by somebody... can't be that hard. Of course this comes with it's risks... you might meet an asshole........ if that's the case then.... sorry. It happens.

Re: An interesting concept
Sounds interesting. I've met two (Elchicoloco and ---, who never posts anymore). I'd like to meet more, but that would be marginally difficult with my schedule. However, a very good friend of mine has a band playing the House of Blues in NOLA, so...anyone game?

Re: An interesting concept
Well, I've been friends with Carl (BeZerK2112) and Andrei (Neutrino) since before I dragged their asses here. I've met Chris (CivRacer) when he lived out here for a short time.
Over at the Turbo Dodge Forums I've met almost all of the other Utah members. Hell, we just had a BBQ a couple of weeks ago. |

Re: An interesting concept
i havent exactly met anyone from here yet...
i'll most likely meet gotian, and mush man this summer, for my trip out to FL. i have no idea who else i may meet along the way this summa. could meet up with some chicago people and people around me, that arent too far. and if rice(er) comes to summerfest, thats also a big possiblity. i could prob meet clawhammer and his s2k, if he desides to drive it here as he travels past me to his new job from what i understand. otherwise, midwest, gimmie a PM.

Re: An interesting concept
I live in the same town as Freakray but have only pm'd him once or twice about subarus. I'm sure that being an admirer of rally racing would give us something to talk about (even if I don't own a scoobie... LOL). Most people on AF that I've come to know through conversations on here or through AIM... BLU CIVIC (Adrian), Hybrid1990CRX, LadyNredSi (Ami), TheSilentChamber, etc. have been really nice and have provided a few laughs (as well as arguments). I'm half way between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC so anybody that wants to meet the turtle dude can pm me.

Re: An interesting concept
I've met quite a few members myself. Back when I was in Utah, I had the joy of getting to know three of our fellow AF Moderators. Kris (Kris lol), Polygon (Clint), and Nuetrino (Andrei). It was a joy to meet each of them. To get to know them on a personal level was a great experience as well. All have a unique quality to each of them. I can't wait to go back to Utah and visit.
Now, when I travelled to Canadia, I put out the post to see who would snatch and offer to meet up. -Josh- was one of the fortunate few I was able to meet. It led to a night of drunkeness and premature passing out...but it was a fun visit the first time around. I also got to know JSwigz, Joshy's cousin. It was a fun visit, which ultimately led to me purchasing my Eclipse from Josh with a second visit. And thus, we had another drunken night that led to being surrounded by cops, getting lost a few blocks away from Josh's house, and having a blast. And lastly, I've had the pleasure of speaking with Matty on the phone. Short conversations, but nevertheless, it was cool to speak to another member on the other side of the country. Oddly enough, now that I think of it, each member I've met or talked to was an AF Moderator . I hope to meet more of you all in the future when I make a trip back to Utah later this year, if not next year. Then, possibly to Cali...for Matty of course.

Also, sorry about bailing out of town without giving you another call...my g/f took out my sim card which erased all of my sent and received numbers. But it was good man, thanks for stopping by. And maybe next time we'll actually get out and go do something.

Re: An interesting concept
Just like Polygon said he and I have been good friends for a long time. I miss the days we hung out all the time. All the hell we raised...
I would like to meet some fellow AFers. I live in Rexburg Idaho and I doubt that anyone else does.

It's all golden grahams Aaron, I ended up getting busy helping my sister unpack at her new place so it's all good on my end. Glad you guys had a good time out here, maybe one of these days I'll get back out to AZ. Next time you're out here I'll have to steal you guys away and take you out to the races where TV lives. It's a bit of a drive, but if it keeps up like it's been the last few times we've been out there it's a hoot! Good meeting you and your lady, hit me up on myspace or something.

Re: An interesting concept
Hehehe, met another AFer today when dropping the Stealth off at the dealership for the 60k service. Jason (jason_bet) works there at the parts counter. He hangs out mostly in the 3000GT/Stealth section.
I asked him to keep an eye on my car for me.
