BMW Mini Cooper chassis paint colors. Any help would be appreciated

I’m starting the Fujimi BMW Mini Cooper S and was reviewing the instructions. The chassis painting instructions seem to indicate black at the ends and a dark matte red in the middle as the base colors. Unless the dark matte red is to indicate a red oxide primer, I’m flabbergasted.

I can’t believe the base chassis would not be primer or perhaps body color. So far I’ve Googled, scanned photo sites and perused eBay Motors, but haven’t found anything.

Can anyone help out? Perhaps even with a photo or two of a Mini on a lift?

Thanks,

Gerry

I know there was (way back when) a video of the assembly line on the official 'Mini' site.
I think the underside should be, like most modern cars, body color.

Hi Gerry I was ever confused on this while I was working on mine. I've found some pics of the car on the repairing shelf which shew the chassis was painted body color, so I did mine like that, but the pics can not be found any more. Hope this would be helpful. Red was the body color.

Most cars in the UK are black underside as they have a anti rust underseal, unlike Japanese Cars which are body colour

Yea, it is painted body color. Just like auw12's MCS.

If you need anymore help, just give me a PM. I have a 1:1 MCS.
