A primer would certainly help your problems. It looks like the paint has reacted with the plastic. Also did you make sure the model was absolutely clean and free of all contaminants before you sprayed the silver? Any trace of grease etc and the paint won't stick too well.I would let it dry, sand out the affected areas and lightly prime the model. Then apply your silver again in light coats.Other alternative is to strip off the silver and start again with a primer this time. Also 600 grit is too rough.Use 1200 or 1500 for sanding back the imperfections.600 will put more scratches in than it takes out. This could also be the cause of the cracking effect.

csc, brake fluid, purple power, alcohol, or good ol natural sanding.

How many layers of the silver have you applied? Before stripping I would lightly wet sand the whole thing back with say 1000 or 1200 and try a couple of light primer coats first. If this seals the surface and you don't get the cracking effect then you can apply the silver over the primer with no problems. If you want to strip it though I always soak the body overnight in Isopropyl Alcohol (available at most chemists) it won't harm the plastic. Some people on here use brake fluid as well.

just so you know, CSC= Castrol Super Clean. comes in large gallon jugs in the automotive section of your local walmart, or equivalent.
I'd just strip it to the bare plastic, and start from scratch with primer.

CSC won't touch tamiya lacquers. Brake fluid or alcohol will.
