Hi everyone I have a 2000 grand prix with a 3.8 and I bought this car with 82,000 miles from the dealer it now has 94,000 miles.. anyway When I bought this car it had the tranny gone through from a local shop and they showed me the warranty it came with at 80,000 miles.. We'll Reverse has been acting kinda funny lately we'll today it wont go into reverse. You can rev it up and it wants to move ,but doesnt.. whats wrong with it? The fluid is nice and red and not burnt... Are there reverse solenoids on this tranny? Any help asap is greatly appreciated!!!

Re: No reverse on 2000 grand prix
Hard to say what the problem is but to answer your question about a reverse solenoid. There is no individual reverse solenoid per se. Based on the position of transmission range switch at (R) the PCM module will simultaneously energize both the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids. They will be in the ON condition. Also, both of these solenoids are on in Park and Neutral.
Your problem sounds more mechanical than electrical.

Re: No reverse on 2000 grand prix
They can blow out the chain cover gasket in the reverse area. This will cause a no reverse condtion. If you rev up the engine does the car move?
