Pics from the past couple days...

Pullin into Wendy's in Ryan's new Hachi-Roku...

We've painted the wheels black until he gets a hold of some MK2 Supra rims...

Here's the rims on the car

On the road behind Chris's NX

Ugly ass green Talon we saw

Parking lot fun

I didn't realize that NX's had digital dashes (I LOVE digital dashes)...otherwise it's basically the same as mine. I want an NX!

Chris's car is indeed a 1600, however, Ryan also had an NX2000 at one point, and it had the digital dash as well. I think there's differences between the Canadian and American ones, I think all Canadian ones had the digital dash no matter which model, also, our's had conventional seatbelts...not sure what the American NX's had because of the t-tops/frameless doors?

Nice pics mate!

But please don't tell me the NX Coupe is considered a sports car in the US? We get piles of them over from Japan, and they are one of the slowest most annoying cars on the road.

And that looks to me like an early 4age, i.e only 130 or so hp.
But I could be wrong.

Well, it was the "Sports coupe" version of the Sentra...the 240SX and 300ZX were Nissans real sports cars...

Well it sounds like the US got a better deal than the Japanese did.
The largest engine in a Jap one I have seen was a 1500, and most are only a 1300. And all have been Automatics.
They are anything but a sports coupe, and instead appeal to the image consious young single female or gay guy who wants a cheap but stylish car. It only has to look fast, not actualy be fast.

And most of the time I hear Americans whinning about the Japanese getting the best models, well not this time.

Really? Cool

We got the NX1600 with the GA16DE, and the NX2000 with the SR20DE, which is really quite a decent performing little car. Almost all that I've seen are manual transmissioned, both 1600's and 2000's

Actually most of the time the US spec jap cars came with slightly bigger engines.

my dads camry over there had a 3L v6. never could find one of those here.

Just most of the US cars didn't come with things like turbos. for example. The 200sx in the early ninties in the states is I think the Sentra here, whereas the 240sx in the states is the 200sx or Silvia here.

The 200sx came in the US came with a 2.4l truck motor. (from the 2.4L Navara )

And all the 5 and 6g Honda Civics got a 1200 or a 1500 in Japan, but a 1600 in the US. (except the coupes which were made in the US)

And several Accord engines were a 2.3 when the JDM version only got a 2.0 or 2.2

The US oddessy is also a bit bigger in external and internal dimmensions than what the rest of the world gets, while the US Maxima is quite a bit smaller than what we get. (which is now badged as the Cefiro in japan (where it comes with a 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0L V6), as the Cefiro stopped useing the skyline platform, and the Maxima name was dropped from the Japanese market).
However the US Maxima although quite a bit smaller (half way between a Primera and a NZ Maxima) still uses the 3.0L V6 which is then tuned to make a few more HP. The light weight and extra power make them true compition for a GTS t skyline. Where a NZ Maxima would get left way behind.

As for the Camary, I always thought the NZ version had the 3.0L v6, and it was only the used imports that came with the smaller 2.5L unit.
I know the Avalon which is Camary on steroids use's the 3.0v6.

Its all about Marketing.
The US has a very strong bigger is better attitude built into thier consumer tastes, and the car manufactors build cars for the US market accordingly.
While the more rest of the world is generaly regarded as having a more refined and rational view towards cars, and evaluate them on more than the mere numbers that are in the brochure, hence the cars are built accordingly.

But a JDM NX Coupe with an SR20det could be one hell of a quick car, they are not very big, and can't weigh very much.

It's actually now using a 3.5, just a biggered up version of the old 3.0.

It has 255 hp, 246 lbft, and a 6-speed manual
