Re: losing rpm

Welcome to the forum!

Now, please review the forum guidelines (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...uidelines.html) that you agreed to when registering and try this again with punctuation.

Are you saying that your tachometer shows 5000 rpms when going 40 mph? Does the transmission shift to get there? Which engine does your Taurus have? Does the sputter and shaking occur all the time, or only at 40 mph? Does it seem engine related, or suspension related? If engine related, the shaking and sputtering could be a vacuum leak, a Mass AirFlow (MAF) sensor problem, a fuel problem, a misfire, etc. What have you tried or inspected in an attempt to narrow the problem down?

To give you much direction to narrow your search, we'll need to have a better understanding of what's been checked out so far. Has any maintenance been performed recently?
