who has used these? car emblems from msm and mfh

Hey guys,
Just wondering who has used these 2 different sets of model emblems?



just trying to decide which set to buy since I know i'd use the Porsche ones eventually. Is one set better in terms of quality than the other?

The EJAN Ferrari set is excellent, I got mine from Hiro boy for my 599 (some where in the street section for photos), and I have enough left for a few other cars. Combined with a Crazy Modeller set of self adhesive 'metal' badges it's perfect.

I have both but have only used the MSM ones so far. They work great and have very nice detail.

I have 3 sets of the EJan and they are excellent!!! Highly recommend them!

As for MSM's site, well, I looked and it is not around for some reason?

I've considered these, but the pics I've seen (like those above) make them look too 3 dimensional to me- like maybe there's a curved clear 3D 'lens' on each emblem (especially the Hiro set). They look a bit like the puffy stickers kids traded when i was in grade school. I haven't seen them in person so i can't say if this is for real or just a trick of the photography, but if it is real I'm not sure it would look very accurate.

A real BMW roundel has no depth to it- it really is a flat painted emblem on a slightly domed surface. A kit decal on a suitable domed shape is a perfect and objectively correct way of representing them. Ferrari bonnet badges have a little bit of depth to them, but nothing more than what a layer or two of flat clearcoat would provide. Scuderia shields are often dead flat, and look for all the world like stickers (granted Ferrari have started also offering more 3D looking enameled shields with chromed edges, but these are recent and way too blingy for my uses).

So can anyone who has them/has used them comment on their thickness?

I personally think they are great emblems. I have the E-Jan Ferrari Emblems laying around and used them also. They are easy to work with and the result is good I think. See the before (normal decal under clearcote) and after (applied emblem) pictures:


I think the thickness is just about right. They should be a very little bit smaller, but the size is so small that it is virtually impossible. Good buy if you asked me.

Andy, I thought the same thing as you, I remember those puffy stickers. Anyways I bought the EJan set for my Enzo and I bought the MSM set for a Countach that I have on the go. Both emblems measure out at 0.4mm in thickness (including the backing sheet) I agree with you on the BMW emblem but I find a decal just looks like a decal, these although maybe slightly out of scale give a more 3D effect. I have some pictures I shot of an F430 and it has chrome around the horse, italian flag colors and outer edge, both of the EJan and MSM emblems lack this but I would still rather have them then a decal.

Also both emblems are quite flat, they remind me of the photoetch emblems with a coat of clear epoxy on top. Hope this helps.

the Ejan badges look best on a kit where there is an indent for the badge otherwise, they look too thick.

I prefer to, where possible, to lay a decal over an etched badge and let microsol + a little clear coat do the job.
