61st Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale, updated 3-17-08
Hey guys, heres the first of my 3 group build projects, a tamiya 360 Modena with the MSM Stradale trans kit. I've had the kit since it first came out and had done a bit off assembly to the motor, but after seeing some of the newer builds I decided to pry it all apart and repaint it with some metalizer. I also am trying out some plasticote fabric/texture paint on the intake plenum and it worked for the most part, but the p/e emblems on the plenum are too buried to sand out(guess i'm gonna buy that nice CM pe emblem set). The sides and front bumper of the t/k have been super glued on, and the front bumper was a bit of a pain because it was very warped(this will require a bit of work to fix where it is attached, but it it stuck there for good!). I'm not sure i'm going to try to replicate the rear grill area, but i'm going to possibly mod the tamiya decklid into the CS version since the one in the MSM kit shrank(i've had this t/k for 2 years so I guess this is common) I've barely gotten started on it but here it is, the wheels are aoshima Auto Couture Supremes with an added lip I casted on the back. Color will be Tour De France Blue, with a red sport interior(seats from an Enzo will be used). Comments and critiques are most welcome...thanks for looking. Please pardon the pics, i've got a great new camera and am learning its settings, plus I now need to get a proper lighting setup for the bench...

Good start. At first i was not liking the wheel choice because it is not a "true" CS, but then who cares?! I say build it, lol. Looks great so far!

Re: 60th Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale
hey guys....this one got pushed back a little huh?
well after putting in a bunch of effort detailing a ford 302 for my 32 roadster modelers add hit me hard(that and waiting for warm enough weather and time to paint said 32 roadster), and Mrawls fully open 360 modena thread inspired me a little. ![]() doesn't look like much since the last time, but a bit has been done, I've changed to enzo wheels(thanks enzoenvy), and started work on the interior mods. the 2 main things I did was re-do my front bumper attachment thanks to msm's wonderful warped resin so that it didn't need a ton of filler. ![]() ![]() I also purchased the acustion pe set mainly for the hatch grills, and went to work modding the kit hatch to the proper CS style. I'm also scratching up a Timate style titanium exhaust for this puppy since its being built how i'd have my own 360 CS is i ever won the lotto. the motor was stripped and is being re-done as well, I'm also going to purchase the cm pe set for some additional details, and some wiring will be done to the motor. here is a pic of the exhaust i'm trying to make ![]() anyway sorry for the dark pics, its late here and everyone is in bed... comments and critiques always welcome.. Gray oh p.s. bigfrit, you mind of I use your 61st anniversary "deadlines suck" banner? its funny |

Yes, MRawl's fully open is unbelievably inspiring!
The enzo wheels look good on this car; better than the first wheels in the pics. I want to see this one progress! Andy |

Re: 60th Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale
I think the crome wheels looks great but only if you plan to built a street version. Anyways this seems to be another interesting WIP to watch out and even better once you get those PE sets.

Re: 60th Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale
Thanks guys, the chrome wheels did look good, but they weren't going to stay chrome, and after stripping the centers, they didn't look as hot, plus the amount of work needed to get such a deep offset wheel to fit in the back was way more than I want to take on(lowering the ride height will be a slight challenge in itself)
I'll get some more progress posted on this one soon guys... Gray |

Re: 60th Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale
Bravo Gray! Makes me want to get mine out. Unfortunately my final semester in college is kicking my butt and I can't build at all. Seems like the wheels will look great, lol. Glad you redid the bumper. That whole trans kit was a waste. Oh well, if all we got was a bumper than.........

I've downloaded most of the parts diagrams from Ricambiamerica, and a bunch of newer reference pics to make sure I'm getting some of the small stuff right, It might still be a while before I finish it, but I am working on it at least. Gray |

Re: 60th Ann. of the Ferrari GB 360 Modena Challenge Stradale
hey guys, not much of an update, but hey..progress is progress right?
![]() I've sanded some more on the front end, and now mainly just need to sure up the line between the bumper and body....you can also see a peak at a new project in the Gray Smith Garage..... ![]() bumper up close.. ![]() heres a shot from the rear, I added the lower bumper extensions(which I'm not sure they are part of the 1:1, but the look good here) I'm still mulling over the rear grill.... ![]() here i've integrated the p/e 3rd brake light part into the deck lid with some Mr. Dissolved Putty. plus i've gotten the spoiler shape pretty much dead on. ![]() and here is what i'm doing with the p/e hatch grills for the CS...I filled the holes with a few coats of mr. dissolved, and then a hit of super glue to sure it up, I'll give another few coats and then sand it smooth and coat with cf decal, I'm either going to buy p/e mesh sheets and cut out some mesh to go under it, or i'll find another Modena p/e sheet with the regular grills and mount them under it. I've sanded the kits upper lid grills down some to make up for the thickness of the p/e parts..hopefully it will look decent when done. sorry for the lack of heavy progress...i've either been waiting for stuff to arrive that i've bought or looking up more reference to make sure this sucker is as accurate in most areas as possible(same for my enzo kit). I've got some time coming up this week while the wife and kid are gone, and I'll be able to really hit it hard, I've got some other cool stuff to show..comments and critiques are always welcome.
