Thumbs up 1:3 "the Ferrari 312 PB" (Fully Fuctional kit)

Pierre Scerri of Italy has built what must be some of the finest scale models ever. He recently completed a 1:3 scale model of a Ferrari 312PB. To see it is to see a Ferrari in every way except it is one third the size of the factory car, but what leaves you shaking your head is that everything works! The flat 12 cylinder, fuel injected, dry sump engine starts up and runs. The gear box changes gears and drives the wheels. Absolutely everything is a perfectly functioning version of the full size piece. Even more amazing is he’s done it before, his most recent Ferrari is his second.

It is interesting how the term "scratchbuilt" is so often used for things that are only modified, not truly fabricated from scratch in the model realm. (Fortunately and thankfully it has been on the decline lately around this forum from what I've seen.) But this is no "kit". To me it is an insult to call that masterful compilation of fabrication a mere kit. Sorry if my passion is unrestrained in this matter...

Wholeheartedly, I have to agree. that MODEL.... is indeed a working masterpiece of engineering and craftsmanship. to call it a kit SHOULD be an insult to it's maker. however, I too slip up from time to time and mistakenly refer to things in unintentionally insulting ways.

I'm not a Ferrari man by any means, but that is truly a work of art!

I think his progress thread, even a watered down version, would greatly exceed the capacity of the automotiveforums.com servers!!! hahaha
