Inside lights won't turn off?
Driving a 94 Camaro and the inside lights won't go off, the reading lamps on the rearview mirror and the backlight. I've tried everything - turning every switch on and off, turning the car on and off, etc. Nothing works.
Help, please! I'd rather not have to bus to school tommorow because my freakin' battery ran out. |

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
Have you tried the interior light knob, to the left of the headlight switch? That happened to me once, I couldn't figure it out until I realized I had that knob turned all the way up, which in turn activates all the interior lights.

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
Yeah I've tried all of that, no dice.
If it comes to it, is it possible to open the mirror and backlight up and unscrew the bulbs? |

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
You could just take the fuse out

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
You open the fuse panel.. look at the diagram and find the one that says "interior lights"... and then you pull the fuse.

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
I didn't get the manual when I got the car, where exactly is the fuse box?
Sorry, I don't know a whole lot about the inner workings of cars. I wish I did, but I never really got around to learning. |

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
Ok, I got the right one, it was Fuse 15A - "Courteousy." This turned the lights off, only now my keyless entry won't work.
Not a huge deal, but does anyone know how I'd go about fixing this - getting my lights working again and the keyless entry? I get the feeling it's a very minor problem but one I'll have to pay a lot to fix if I take it to a shop. |

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
Lift the carpet up in the driver's floorboard.......
There will be a loom of wires under there...... Get a wiring diagram and find what color the wire for the interior lights is....it will be a ground wire that runs through-out the car.... That wire is grounded out somewhere in the loom.......start right by the driver's floorboard....you get in and out of there all the time, and the wires rub together every time you move around.... Try that, that is from experience with many vehicles.

Re: Inside lights won't turn off?
Since you were able to shut the interior lights off by taking the fuse out, I think that one of the door actuators is not closing all the way. This is the 'pin' that is near the door hinge that 'closes' the circuit when you close the door. Have you ever had any accessories hooked up to your entry system?
