looking for info about a model i have: Fujimi Lambo Countach LP500s
while reorganizing my basement i found this model that i was given a few years back. its a Lamborghini Countach LP500s 1:16 scale model. The box has japanese writing on in and the instruction manual with diagrams on how to put it together is in Japanese (thats probably why i never tried to put it together). it does have an additional instruction list in English. Everything is mint, unopened, and it supposedly has a motor. In the box was the original invoice showing it was purchased in 1985 for $29.95. I'd like any additional info about this model including if its rare and what its current value could be. here are 2 pics of it. thanks in advance.

Re: looking for info about a model i have: Fujimi Lambo Countach LP500s
It's not like you're sitting on a goldmine or something.
Like every model kit, it is worth only what you can get someone to pay for it. Period. Just because someone bought one like it a few weeks ago for $XX, doesn't mean the kit is worth that. The guy that bought it for $XX may have been the last person willing to pay that amount for it. They're not like old baseball cards or comicbooks- kits have no inherent value, have no established collecter market, and are worth only what you can sell them for. It's a decent kit, but will take some work to put together.

thanks for the info. i've had it for awhile but i don't expect it to be worth a ton. i was just curious. i know a good deal about die cast models but not about these plastic kits.

As for the kit. . . The market was pretty much flooded with 'em and were still available in one form or another up until a few years ago. It was repackage by a couple of different MFG's including Revell (5000). All versions shared parts. Parts count and detail they're okay and superior to other kits in some places. . . Accuracy? Oh man. . .Fujimi put the screws to us with these kits. . . Poor fitting parts, heavy heavy plastic which had a tendency to warp over time. About the only good thing about 'em were the interiors and chassis. The tires were excellent but wheels were. . .well. . just plain ugly. .lol. . I picked up several a few years ago when a distributor was having a clearance on all Fujimi kits which it had dropped from its line up. Paid right around $20 - $25 for each.

Re: looking for info about a model i have: Fujimi Lambo Countach LP500s
ahh, that's just a junk kit. you need to get rid of it. I'll do you a favor and get rid of it for you. Just send it to...... hahahaha
my cousin build just about every version of that kit (he's a lambo FREAK) and with very minimal effort, one can have a VERY nice kit. yes, the plastic is heavy, and depending on the manufacturer, can be very brittle, or soft. it builds a very nice display model out of the box and can render a highly detailed model with a bit of research and correction on some parts. I have the Revell variant of this kit unopened, still in the plastic wrap and I am waiting for my shop to really get this one done up right. as for a value, I'd say no more than what you can get the latest release of the same kit from Hobby Link Japan, or ebay prices (realistic ebay prices, not the "shipping fluffed" bull shit I see way to often. it's a good kit, not much of a collector, but you should be able to get what pops paid for it back in the 80's
