Yet another WIP, Ford F1 1950
Hi folks!
Time to show something new again, not very much getting finished. Apologies for that, but I live to build as prio one not finishing Revell/Monogram Ford F1 is what it says on the box. Well, this is what I had in mind when I started the project. At least the stance and wheels. Lowerd the suspension front and rear by putting the axels over the leaf springs instead of under as per instructions. Also put a strip of styrene to the rear fenders to widen them a bit. ![]() Had to do something about the inaccurate intake that was provided in the kit. Some fiddling with different plastic stock and I ended up with a six-carb setup. A small forrest of Stromberg 97's on top would do the trick to get this thing gallopping. ![]() ![]() After getting hints and suggestions from some fellow modelers I opted for this look on the little truck. The colour is from VW/Porsche, blutorange and was available in the early 70's Had some problems with bubbles on the front fenders but I think it's sorted out. ![]() ![]() Painted the wood with a light beige colour, followed by streaks of chocolate brown feathered out with a dry brush. When dry I put on transparent orange and now it's waiting for the chrome to be put on. ![]() First I thought it would look cool with the engine silver/grey but it was to dull. Some consideration gave at hand that red was the way to go and this it what it looks like now. Still needs one or two more coats of red but it looks far better then in stainless steel. Looks a bit empty without the intake manifold and carbs. I shiver from the thought of linking up the carbs to the accelerator ![]() ....and that about sums it up for this time. Niclas |

Re: Yet another WIP, Ford F1 1950
Looks fantastic so far. The combo of the orange, the wood, the white walls and that motor make this one classic hot rod.

Re: Yet another WIP, Ford F1 1950
Thank you guys!
Things are moving a bit slow at the moment but that's nothing compared to the next few weeks. I'm having minor surgery done to my right hand on tuesday so there will not be very much building for a couple of weeks or so. I've been fiddling with the intake setup and all other small things that is left now near the end of the build. Why is it that it takes so long time to wrap things up? Well, it's slowly coming together. Stay tuned for more info on a site near you. Niclas |

Re: Yet another WIP, Ford F1 1950
So, now it's done and this new package of mine will keep me from building anything for quite some time now.
Can't even scratch my nose! ![]() Niclas |

I sure will use the time to gather info on planned builds, go to some model shows to get an extra boost of modeling too. The next one is this coming saturday to sunday, IPMS-Open in Stockholm. Niclas |

Re: Yet another WIP, Ford F1 1950
I'm guessing you are right handed? if so, that sucks. I wouldn't let something like that get in my way though, and I'm sure that as soon as the pain goes away, you'll be back at it.
nice truck too by the way. I built this same kit and had SO much fun with it, I bought 3 more!
