Duplicolor clear over Tamiya color????

Can you use Duplicolor clear sprays over Tamiya color? I am planning on using several duplicolor colors, but I can`t find any orange or yellow duplicolor sprays. I am pretty sure they are acrylic laquers. So I was thinking of using Tamiya colors for the orange and yellow, and topping it off with the duplicolor clear (about 5-7 coats). Anyone tried this?

I doubt that it will work, but do a test and let us know. TS paints are synthetic lacquers and most others are acrylic and much hotter. My guess is, the Duplicolor will melt into it causing it to craze or peel.

So how about the other way round? Can I spray Tamiya clear over duplicolor color? It sounds like I could.

That shouldn't be a problem at all. I sprayed TS Clear over MCW's automotive lacquer more than once with excellent results.

Ok, so here is my idea. It will be a several color paint job, 1 of the colors will be tamiya. Can I wet sand about an hour after the color coats and then apply the Tamiya clear? Or do I have to wait for everything to fully cure for a month?

Duplicolor color paints will cure in about 48 hours, however the general consensus is that you either need to spray Tamiya clear over the color coat within a few hours of applying it, or wait 2-4 weeks for it to fully cure.

Apply the TS clear within thirty minutes to be safe, or when the base coats are sufficiently cured. Don't get hasty, take your time.

Well, it looks like it doesnt matter much now guys. I actually found some metallic purple and yellow duplicolor paints, so all duplicolor it is! The guy at the counter gave me funny looks when I walked up with 5 different color spray paint cans.
