Engine Swaps?
Well this is my first posting so if this question has been answered 100 times please bare with me or send me a link.
I'm looking at getting between a 69-74 VW (thing, bug, ....) you name it, because I'm looking to swap on the Wombat body. But I was wondering what type of engine swaps can be made for these years. Something bigger than the 1600 preferably, but again I'll take suggestions on how to soup this engine up. |

Well, swaping in a Porsche engine should go smooth.
Or you could try a Subary boxer, a VAG inline-4, or even a 13b rotary engine. |

hi,
I don't see what motor you wouldn't want besides a type 1. I have a 2165 and it can beat most anyting on the street. A 2165 is a bored and stroked 1600 and the biggest (generally) street motor is a 2332. YOu can swap them in an hour and be eating 5.0's all day. In terms of the porsch motor I don't know which one would swap easy. A 911's flat 6 is quite longer then a flat 4 and a 912's or 914's 4 cylinder is just a vw motor anyway from a type 4. Subaru and rotary motors are possible but then you have added weight and the challenge of finding a spot for the radiator. Go to cal-look.com and look at the top 20 street cars, I think the fastest N/A is 11 something. My 2 cents |
