Smile fun with wagons

Had one of those adrenalline encouters tonight, still pumped.

Coming home from my G/Fs on the 110. I ran into a pretty feisty S/W. I don't think it was a WRX but I must admit I wouldn't know what to look for. Anyways, here's the story.

Taking the 110 N to Pasadena, I got past the 5 and moved into the left most lane. i was doing about 75 when I came up on this gold stationwagon. It was gold and boxy looking. My first impression was it was a SAAB or Volvo. Anyways this guy just takes off. So I decide to play cat and mouse. He got up to about 85 when we came up on road construction. I kept tailing him by 'bout 2 car lengths. He kept weaving thru traffic and I kept up with him. As soon as all lanes opened up, I moved to the left lane and gave it some throttle. He got stuck behind a truck, then switched lanes behind me. I got up to about 90 and then eased up and took the SO. Pasadena curve at 75-80. He must have taken that turn at 'bout 80-85 cause he closed in. Once we hit the straight away I floored it and walked away. I shut down at about 125 with a good 1/8 mi lead. I got to the end of the freeway and waited for him. I was behind another car in the middle lane, he came up and went on to the left lane. As soon as the light turned green he went. I switched lanes and followed. We got up to about 65 when he had to slow for a red light on California. Yes, perfect opportunity I thought. He however switched lanes to turn right. I kept looking his way to give him a thumbs up but he never looked. Oh well, that still made my Sunday

and one time we raced a V6 Mustang with 3 people in it in TV's bird, walked him all the way... they stopped in the left lane we got in the left turn lane next to them threw mass revs and waved good bye.

they gave us the Finger.

Totally unrelated...

ldelaysionl,
they make those in gold or metaliic light brown? Man it sux being color blind. What's it look like from the back?

Redneck, yeah I know that wasn't much of a kill but I haven't had many opportunities lately . Seems like lately I've been making up my own reasons to romp it. Hopefully things will pick up, I saw an 03 cobra going into where I work today. There's already 2 '01s there (they don't like to play though). I'll let you guys know when i get my ass handed to me :smoker:

the back...

the closest thing to light brown would be sedona red pearl, its a really maroon-ish deep red pearl. the 2002 outback sports have the same body, and i think they might come in brown?

Station wagons are so cool! Especially older station wagons, from the 60/early 70s... The only thing cooler, the sedan delivery!

Oh so cool! :coolguy: :coolguy: :coolguy: :coolguy:

I make up reasons to race myself or punch it all the time, so don't feel bad about it...

Be sure and let us know how your do against the 03, should be interesting. There are none around here, cause it's a freaking college town. There is one sitting at our Ford dealer, but it'll be there a long time I believe, just like the three SVT Focus that have been here since last semester. The 03 Cobra is black for anyone that's looking for one...

ldelaysionl,
yeah that was the back, I'm pretty sure it was brown or gold, so like you said it was probably the outback sport.

Cbass,
Them is some cool wagons. I especially like that yellow Nomad. Growing up in El Paso, there was a car club of Nomads, 4 or 5 of them as I recall. Two of them were blown, they pretty much ruled the streets on Sunday.

I make up reasons to race myself or punch it all the time, so don't feel bad about it...

my favorite two are:
"hey look a yellow light .....<from a block away>" and
"hmmm train signal .....< from an 1/8 mi.>

did beat that train and caught some wicked air going over the tracks The look of horror on my GFs face was worth a million

I've only seen the 03 Cobra once going into work. I think he has on lab parking so I can't park next to him to badger him:silly2: . The 03s are rare anywhere, that one at work is the only one I've seen so far. 40k for a mustang, I guess not!! i will definitely let all of you know if I get to run one.

Likewise, but my best chances of doing that will probably be whenever I can make it into Kansas City...
