Exhaust resistor

Is there any downside to removing the resistor from a GP exhaust? I have been told that there will be no problems but I can't help but think it was put there for a reason. I was told it just makes the exhaust note quieter. Will it make some unGodly sound inside of my car? Thanks

Re: Exhaust resistor

Removing the resonator will make it louder inside the car and will not increase performance in any way. I suggest that you leave it on and just remove the u-bend if you haven't already done so. Sometimes removing the resonator actually makes the tone of the exhaust sound worse not better.

Do you have to replace the sensor when the u-bend is removed or does it just pop in and out?

Re: Exhaust resistor

The rear 02 sensor is threaded into a bung so it doesn't simply pop in and out. There is one electrical connector to it. Unless you are havings problems with it just re-use it. The u-bend delete pipe must have a bung installed or you will not be able to mount the sensor. The sensor monitors CAT convertor efficiency. In lieu of the sensor you can use an 02 simulator or a DTC such as P0420 will set and trigger a SES/CEL light. See pic below.
