Failing fuel pump, or injectors???

Well i looked around the site, and i couldnt really find what i was looking for, especially anything recent.

I have a 1987 5.0, the car seems sluggish and sometimes bucks a ltitle bit if im doing 60 in 4th and give it soem gas, it used to pick up much better.

Within the last 2 weeks i have: Changed plugs , cap, wires, rotor, fuel filter and dumped some injector cleaner in, and also an oil change.

It made a bit of a difference but theres still something not right. I checked the fuel pressure and while runnign it was sitting at approx 35 psi and when i cracked the throttle it bounced to around 45 psi. I have bumped the timing ahead alittle. hmmm what else That would be about it.

Now my questions: How volume of fuel should my fuel pump put out.. like how many mililiters should it put out in a minute. So if the fuel pump does put out the right volume would my injectors possibly be lazy???

And secondly... Could it possibly be my 02 sensors? Whoever built the exhaust before i got the car put two seperate o2's in above the cats and didnt connect them (has small crosspipe aboout 1 inch halfway down the car) Will that make it harder to diagnos bad o2's when i plug it into the computer at work???

If anyones got some answers or advice lemme know!

I havnt had the chance too hook her up to a scantoo yet, hopefully today after im done the safari van heads i'll be able to.... If not then i guess after work.

I would guess clogged injectors, but with the age of the vehicle if the fuel pump has never been changed that is also a good possability.

I scanned the car today.. and this is the results

KOEO (key on engine off)

Ondemand codes: 82 (came twice)
Seperator 10

Keep alive codes: 14 (came twice)

In the library: 82 Ami Fail and system pass 11

KOER (Key on engine running)

94, 44

Both of those codes seemed to indicate soem thermattic............ was not operating.



That is about all, i didnt have a chance to really look at the book but i took a quick scan... If that helps please lemme know!

I dont know what those codes mean lol. Do you have access to all-data? You said both codes indicate a thermatic not opperating? Maybe the CTS is bad?

No unfortunatly the shop is not hooked upto internet so we dont have all-data. I asked my boss about the codes and he said the code 14 PIP thing, is usually the egr.

I have a few other things to check out, fuckin fords with there computer scaning, chevs are waaaaaaay easier to diagnos, because even in the older ones they give an obd 2 type reading.... fords.... tell you nothing.... to bad the mustangs a ford hahaha.

I'll be honest I don't know that code 14 but PIP on Mustangs as far as I have dealt with has nothing to do with the exhuast. "PIP" is the signal your TFI distributor(hall sensor part) send to the ECU to tell it the timing of the motor. Then your ECU does some lovely calculations and sends the SAW signal back to your TFI Module(ignitor part) which will then fire your coil.
