what do you do if you put jp8 in a car?

I let A friend borrow my car and he put jet fuel (jp8) in the tank (5 gallons) , dont ask me how or why but he did. what is the best advice for getting it out and not totally destroying the car. Should i just fill it up and mix it with regualr fuel to try to dilute it? Or should i just drop the tank and flush the fuel system? Hopfully one of you guys can help me out.

hmmm. i dont think that it would destroy the car, but yeah, fill it with as much regular as you can to dilute it.

No.
Siphon what you can out, or drain it if the tank has a drain bolt, THEN fill with regular fuel. 5 gallons is a good percentage of a tank.

still, isnt jet fuel just better quality gas?
i mean, it might have insane octane (or equivalent) but would it really do damage?

Re: what do you do if you put jp8 in a car?

I thought jet fuel was around kerosene..

EDIT: I know someone who ran 100% kerosene(only 1 tank full) in a 90cc 4-wheeler. It ran a long, happy life..

Kerosene is very close to diesel, not used as an additive in gasoline, and should be removed. It won't do much damage, but it won't run if its a gas engine.

If its a diesel engine, dilute it with as much diesel as you can and run it, then change the filter after that tank.

^ and if it does manage to run (ive seen it happen) it'll make so much smoke that you'd be pulled over in a heartbeat.

Re: what do you do if you put jp8 in a car?

i cannot find the article online, but Car and Driver did an article on the '51 buick lesabre concept. the one designed by harley earl.
it used kerosene injection as a performance enhancement at i think 75% or greater throttle.
unless i am mistaken on it using kerosene that is.

I think you're confusing AV-GAS with jet fuel.

AV-GAS is high octane for piston engines, jet fuel is close to diesel with all the waxy stuff removed.

Re: what do you do if you put jp8 in a car?

This sounds a lot like the guy that said his friend put that flush stuff in the engine that was bad for it, didn't want to tell his father, but no one actually believed him. Is it easy to get jet fuel??

Sorry to be the naysayer..but jet fuel?

av gas also has lead. they use it in the little cars running around the airport and they are in the shop constantly for reasons related to running av gas.

and most likely your friend is just bull shitting you.
