Answers for 1 to 10

1 Peggy Wanker. Wanker is a slang word in NZ and Australia for a person who enjoys carnal auto-excitement

2 France. To celebrate the US victory over the English in the war of independence

3 There isn't one - not even a Montana 'Safe and Sensible' rule - unfortunately the odd big red can make it hazardous sometimes...

4 The GST Rate in Australia is 10% except that non-luxury or basic food is exempt, in New Zealand the rate is 12.5%

5 Iceman, Jester and Viper were the call signs of other pilots in the 1986 film 'Top Gun.' Iceman was played by Val Kilmer, Viper was played by Tom Skeritt and Jester was Michael Ironside

6 Andre Agassi - yep he had a mullet, yikes!

7 Jorn Utzon

8 Old Tom - Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside Old Tom. Big Ben tolls the hour but the tower is Old Tom. Why? I dunno

9 Graz, Austria by Steyr-Puch

10 Arc D'Triomphe (apologies if I stuffed up on the spelling there).

11 Philadelphia, Pensylvania [sic] that's how it's spelt on the bell - incidentally it broke the first the first it was struck.

12 Indian - candidate for one of the most beautiful places on Earth and one of the ones likely to disappear if ocean-levels rise any further.

13 Grenada

14 Robert A Heinlein - incidentally SIASL won the Hugo Award

15 Thor

16 Sela Ward (That was a hard one)

17 Johnny Mnemonic

18 Montgomery which incidentally is the M in James M Doohan.

19 The answer I was looking for was that they are all based on stories by Philip K Dick (Total Recall was based on We Can Remember it For You Wholesale, Bladerunner was based on Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep and no I can't remember the story Minority Report is based on).

20 Paul Sorvino - daughter Mira Sorvino won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Mighty Aphrodite (incidentally BSA Oscar has signalled the stalling of the careers of several recipients - Geena Davis, Anna Pacquin, Sigourney Weaver, Mira Sorvino...)

O.K...I'll settle for 17/20

2 France. To celebrate the US victory over the English in the war of independence

actually it was to celebrate the centenary.....and it was only offered to the United States after Greece turned down the initial concept of a mythological goddess....The outer skin is very thin copper,so a couple of quick changes, and the Greek goddess becomes Liberty...the rest is history.Incidentally....the cantilever frame that holds the whole statue together was designed by Gustav Eiffel.
