Ok, I just put my buddy club kit on my civic. The kit came to me un- sanded and un-primed, so basically it's just plain fiberglass with some type of white coat on it. I know the sun and the other elements will eat it up (I think) so what can I do to protect it? If I primer it, will that be good enough to drive around in and protect it from the elements? or is it fine the way it is? Thanks

I should have been more specific, money does not grow on trees therefore I can't paint the kit right now so for the time being, will it be okay to drive around the way it is right now without primer or should I prime it or what? And besides, I see cars with kits on that are unpainted all the time driving around but I think some of them have primer and some don't, so I just want to make sure if it is okay the way my kit is or should I put something on it to protect it from the elements for the time being.

If money doesn't grow on trees why did you get a kit?
No matter what you do, your gonna still be able to chip/crack it. Primer will help tho.

Word of warning... prepare to get laughed at if you put a primered kit on your car for more than a day. I'm not tryin to start shit, just tellin you the way it is. If I were you, I'd leave it off and save up some money to get it painted. It looks a hell of a lot better plus you're taking the chance of damage from road hazards like potholes, curbs, roadkill, and if you live up north, snow, ice, salt, etc. I'd wait till next spring.

Yeah, its probably best I do wait. But I figured if everyone here was drving around with their kits un-painted, I guess I could to. Besides it would have cleared up some space in my room. Damn these kits take up room! Oh well, I'll be paitent and do things the right way. Thanks guys!

dont put it on til you paint it! i HATE cars with unpainted kits. its just tacky ;/
and as fas as everyone else doing it, thats the hardest thing i have to avoid when customizing my car. i mean come on, we drive civics. there are like a million of them in each of our towns and proly like 1/5 of them are hooked up. i try NOT to look like everyone else..... DO IT RIGHT. just wait til its primered and painted. i know its hard but you must! im having to hold off putting my rims on the car cuz im gettin a camber kit for the tires, so i know how you feel. |
