86 Taurus master cyl. Change out
I haven't ever changed out a master cylynder and before I go in with the new-rebuilt one am wondering if there is anything other than making sure to bleed the brakes that I need to know. Ie special tools or tricks to make this whole deal end well for the car, and my son and I.

Re: 86 Taurus master cyl. Change out
I'm not sure if bench bleeding is recommended for the master cylinder before you install it, I would get a service manual, Chilton or whatever.. they probably have some info in them.. make sure you use quality wrenches designed for the tubing nuts, flare wrenches maybe??? Auto parts store will know,, be very careful loosening the fittings, they are soft and will get damaged easily.. it may pay to soak them with a penetrative oil first... 86's didn't have abs as an option, did they??? I suppose I could run to the book, but......

Re: 86 Taurus master cyl. Change out
The master cylinder needs bench bled before installation. Make sure all the bleeder screws at the wheels are free to move. Bleed the system carefully. Yhere are a lot of posts on how to bleed brakes if you search for them. Good luck. Just be sure you are comfortable with doing the job. If there are nagging doubts, have a pro do it. Good luck if you try to do it yourself.
