error code need LX/DX/STD owners help!

hoopty whoop is having troubles. it is an 89 LX with my old d16a6 (from 89 Si). it doesn't have the MPFI conversion and it's stock ecu. the car think's it's still a LX (or DX/STD engine wise).

here's the deal...the last couple of nights it has gotten really cold. yesterday and this morning i have started the car and get a code 10 (intake air temperature). the car will start but drop idle rapidly until it dies unless you sit there with your foot on the gas.

could the problem be it doesn't like the custom intake in the cold? i took the air restriction plate out. could it just be sucking in too much cold air...would replacing the plate help? is a sensor freaking out on me somewhere? the problem didn't start until it got cold. anyone else ever have this problem?

after like an hr, pulled the hazard fuse and reset the ecu yesterday and it started. going to go utside and try it again in a few. it seems to work but i can't be doing this everyday i want to drive the car :toothless

Sounds like you need to put that air restriction plate back in.

to me it sounds like the engine is just too cold to run at idle, so i guess replacing the restrictor plate or the stock intake would fix it.

hey ur problem sounds like my friends crx when i did his first b16a swap. sometimes there is a cold engine sensor. well its not really a sensor but it is more of a diafram. when the engine is cold it holds the throttle plate a little open for extra air and as the engine warms it closes. it is located right by where the throttle cabel connects to the throttle body. the intake shouldnt matter though. but i would check it out on you engine. good luck though
let me know if you get it fixed

Try switching to a colder spark plug range.

it's not the pgmi. i didn't do the MPFI conversion. i've been rolling the car around town a couple of months. this didn't start until the weather temp. dropped dramatically.

it's not the restrictor plate. that was the easiest to rule out...so i stuck it back in this morning before i started the car. same thing happened. so i shutoff the car and reset the ecu. i expected the car to start right and and all is good as it had done the past 3 days. nope. threw a code 10 again. so the problem is getting worse. i was gonna check the plugs but it started raining. so the mystery will continue.

hopefully it won't rain tomorrow
