Re: Re: 92 PA Error Codes, need help
This site gives general information. I appreciate directing me to it. I was able to get more indepth info. Changed the O2 sensor and PCV. Response was good. Still causing the error code 18. Changing the CAM sensor now. Hoping this will fix everything. Do not want to attack the Crank Sensor. This is the big one.

I was getting some odd (as in totally undocumented) error codes on my '93 PA a few months ago (what the heck is code 53!?!?!). I think it was because the battery had been drained and it just confused the ECM. I disconnected the ECM for about 30 minutes; that reset the ECM and cleared out the trouble codes.
Try that and see what happens. If the problems are still there, then the SES light will come back on. |

Re: 92 PA Error Codes, need help
Tried resetting the codes several times. Still getting the Code 18. Will have to look at replacing the Crank Sensor next.

Re: 92 PA Error Codes, need help
I was able to get the information I needed. I also successfully changed out the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor, which was not the huge tasks that I thought it was. Also did not have to purchase the J37089 tool that cost >$350.
Thanks for everyones assistance. |

Re: 92 PA Error Codes, need help
I had an ac problem as well. Found out that the ac only needed to be recharged. If your system has not been converted to the R34a, this is the time to do it. R12 is very expensive to recharge, about $60 or more per pound, usually takes 3 to 4 pounds for a full recharge.
Also check for leaks. You can buy the necessary parts from your local parts dealer and follow all the instructions, including replacing some other parts ac parts. Not real hard. If already converted, then disconnect the battery to reset the ecm. Wait 1 minute, reconnect. Turn on car, then ac. If it turns on for just a moment, then turns off and you again get the error, it requires a recharge. If not then the ac is toast. Replace and have the new compressor vacummed and recharged by a professional. This should cost about $100. This is usually a requirement of the warranty on the new compressor and well worth the cost. If only a recharge is needed then disconnect battery again, wait, then connect recharge can to low compressor side, should be located on the passenger side. Connect battery, turn on ac and let it charge. One good place to get information is your local library. Books are readily available. I use the library because I have access to more books than I can buy and more information. |
