I could be wrong (and I probably am), but I thought the DX tranny's were all 4 spd... Maybe I'm confusing it with the STD.

Yea, I think the STD has the 4 spd, cause I have a DX and its a 5 spd. One of my friends has a STD and its a 4 spd.

Look on your engine block and where it says d16a6, on the left of that, if you have a Si model it should say L plus a bunch of random letters and numbers. If it doest say L, or if it says something else, its not a Si tranny

ok according to my mechanic i have a b-16 transmission. to the left of the b-20 tag on the tranny it is marked "S1" and some random numbers i will try to get a pic in. so does that mean i dont have a b-16 tranny cause it dont have an "L"

No most likely you have a b16a (S1) transmission....sometimes the stickers are not correct but most of the time they are ok.

As for the others, all 88-91 civic/crx transmissions are labeled L3....the only way to tell the difference is to find these stamps on the case:

Si transmission

STD 4 spd transmission

88 trans with no markings

Hope this helps some

you would need the tranny. You can keep the std axles but the SI ones are larger in size and stronger. what motor are you planning on running?

thanks
