Intrigue 99 - Blower motor not working

Since beginning of January , and start of cold temperatures Blower motor is not working half the time.
Usually after driving for about 20 min. starts to work on its own.
Any idea what's wrong with it ?

Does your Intrigue have a passenger cabin air filter?

There is a resistor that can go bad but that usually doesn't allow you to turn the blower off and your symptoms are opposite. To me it sounds like classic something is loose symptoms. Have you taken it apart to see if it has any trash in it or a connection is grimy? Easiest thing to do is take it apart and clean it really well and see what happens.

Heres the blower motor:

Re: Intrigue 99 - Blower motor not working

I know the Intrigue will not blow any warm air until the car warms up. It takes my 2000 Intrigue about 5-10 minutes of driving in the morning before the warm air starts blowing. the temperatures have been in the single digits here on the east coast.

Not sure if this may apply to you or not.

I don't think so , however if suggesting water leaks in somehow and then freezes the blower solid you may be right.

Thanks

this could very well be the culprit. There are portable defrosters that plug into the cig 12V outlet for ~$20<->$30 (Walmart or the AutoStores should have these.)

I would have never thought of an electric fan freezing up, but with the Intrigue I guess it's possible.

Get the car warm and unplug that AC duct if you can.

Actually I wasn't thinking about that but it does sound good! I changed my cabin air filter after 6 years and it was filthy. Surprised any air got into the blower.

I have the exact same problem on my 2000 intrigue. Have you had any resolution?
