Re: wrong topic but got a question

There is a fabrication forum here as well. You might get more detailed responses there. Go up to the main tree and its immediately below this forum.

You're looking for fiberglass cloth or matting and polyester resin and hardener. Its available at parts stores or Home Depot/Lowes. Its been a while since I bought any, but I think it should be about $25 a gallon for the resin/hardener and another $15-20 should buy enough cloth to use that much resin. For good looking stuff, get the woven cloth that looks like burlap; evenly woven. For stronger stuff thats not as pretty, get the randomly oriented cloth. It comes in a few thicknesses up to about 1/4" thick. That stuff is strong as an ox, but not easy to get a nice flat finish. For the ultimate strength, skip the poly resin and go to an auto body supply place and get epoxy. Similar working properties but much stronger when done.

Sure. It depends on what you're trying to do. If you're adding decorative parts its fine, but if you are replacing parts like fenders you'll have to be careful of stress points. If you make a custom fender that isn't strong enough, the first bump you hit will rip it off right at the bolts.

You could probably make a custom fender if u simply added to the existing fender.
