'56 Chevy Nomad

This has got to be one of the coolest wagons ever built. This looks like a nice kit too, the ride height is just the way it shows on the box. It comes with stock suspension and lowered suspension. I am figuring on a two tone paint job, boyd red and metalic black (and a ton of bmf) with a red and white interior with a little bmf also. Here are a few pics of a quick mock up.

If anybody knows of a photo etch for this kit please let me know.

It's actually a '56. I'm sure you will really enjoy this kit and make it into a real beauty. If you haven't seen this already, please have a look at this Nomad, might give you some ideas along the way. Good luck on this and looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Maybe I should read the box a little closer.

Re: 55 Chevy Nomad

I got a little work done on the motor. I wanted more of a custom look to it so I had to bmf the oil pan and timing chain cover. I still need to install and wire the distributor. The motor and trans are painted boyd red to match the body but now that I see it, I don't like it too much. I think I am going to go with a brighter red, a GM torch red from dupli color. It will be a nice contrast to the motor.

I have begun work on the interior and will post those pics soon. The body is in primer and almost ready for paint.

Nice color what is it? Only 2 hours to bmf? I thought it would take longer for sure.

Re: 55 Chevy Nomad

That's a really good kit with only minor issues.
Here's mine: http://ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/20...roos_nomad.htm

Looking good so far, will follow this one to see what you end up with.

Quadzero sent the link to your build. Thats one bright green machine. Mine isn't going to be quite as bright.

Re: '56 Chevy Nomad

Thank you tonioseven for correcting the title. Thanks to those who posted links to their builds. They look great and gave me some new ideas. Actually made me change my mind because I had some of the same thoughts. Anyway, I got some more work done. The motor is wired as much as I can right now and just waiting to go in to finish what's left.

The first color is down and dried enough to mask for the black which will be laid down today.

I'm getting a little more creative with the chaissis on this one than I have in the past. I still need to paint the suspension but I here is what I'm going with.

It's not as LOUD as looks in the pics. The flash makes it look louder. It is a bright red, GM tourch red, but I used a medium gray primer to tone it down a bit.
