i think that site was telling you how much the domain name is worth. not AF itself, as in the forum and therefore company that AF is.

To have a realistic value,AF must first be for sale.
Even then, the value would only be determined by the vendor, as Igor is the only guy who has the right to decide if the best offer is acceptable.

www.trademe.co.nz recently changed hands for $ 700,000,000. it's basically a new-zealand based alternative to Ebay, but it is a commercial venture that was bought out by its competitors, the newspaper industry.

AF is a lot of fun, but in real terms, it's financial value will be small. with the vast majority of its membership taking advantage of free access, even the biggest automotive forum in the world will have limited revenue. For those of us who visit, it would have a value, but in terms of ability to generate revenue, any external site that purports to know the value of the domain name is just guessing.

Actually, everytime I go it says $582,069 for AF, thats sounds way too low. So does that mean if everymember gives in a dollar we they can buy Igor out. Just checked my own website and it says its worth $2,501.00 which is a flat out lie. My site is worth $2,502.00.
