How far can a D16Y7 motor be pushed???

How far can the D16Y7 Motor be pushed as in with SUpercharger and everything... I was thinking about using a Jackson Racing SUpercharger and Racing Kit with the Hi-Flow Fuel Pump... Will it run fine and not blow the engine???

the jackson racing supercharger ( in stock form) is a very safe way to boost your car. The main reason is...it is made for your car. It is set to deliver a low amount of boost (I think 4-5psi). You can get an upgrade kit for the supercharger that will increase the boost if you plan on upgrading your internals. But for the $$...I'm not a big advocate of spending $3,500+ for only 4psi. It is a very reliable system...but the results (in my opinion) aren't worth the money.

But the super charger does one thing the turbo can't. Low end power and torque, no spool time. Smooth constant power from idle to redline.

With 8psi and cams and port and polish and weight reduction with slicks and the right gear ratio its possible.

damn thats a lot of work for 14's.... i;m in high altitude too so most cars are a little more than 1/2 second slower up here. What about the nos ntercooler for superchargers? It says it increases power a lot, but is it safe?

I ran 14.3 at 9psi on stock wheels, suspension, drivetrain with my turbo setup. I think he could do well with a turbo and fuel upgrades. I've run 10psi with no detonation, but don't trust the rods and pistons. My friend has the EXACT same engine (D16Y*8*) and runs 12psi with no problems. He has the Apex'i bolt-on kit, FMIC, inline fuel pump, RC 400's, and a Profec B EBC. I think a D16Y7 can run 14's with a standard bolt-on turbo.

good news for me, since i have d16y8.... ive heard you can do 12 psi with the fmax kit pretty easily. Seems like if you got 14.3 with just 9 psi, i should be able to get high 14's off 8psi with bolt ons. What does the kid running 12 psi run?
