Y2K silverado

Does anyone have a good idea to what the cost of installation for a sending unit is?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Y2K silverado

The dealer will charge you about $450 for the pump and an extra $450 to install it.
I have seen Fuel pumps as cheap as $89, but not sure if I would trust those.

Look here for some advise:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=646650
I have seen a new pump/sending unit on eBay for $139. The dealer wants like $450 and another $450 to install just like silverado122775 said.

well, thank y'all for the info and advice, but that sounds kinda steep. I think i'll live with my erratic gauge for a while.

Re: Y2K silverado

I bought the 139 dollar one from ebay and with a case of beer and 3 friends to watch most of the time and help remove and replace the box, it took about 2 hours to switch the pump/sending unit. That was 2 years ago and no problems since. The only thing to check for is that they recommend replacing the wiring harness pigtail too. I didn't on the siverado, but did on a couple of others that the pump actually went out on.

Re: Y2K silverado

My gage is only useful from about 1/2 down unless the engine idles for a couple minutes like at a train crossing. Then the needle flips back and forth and the low fuel light goes on and off. I get about 300 miles per tank in the city so then the trip meter gets close to 300 I fill up and reset it.
