I think it has to do with the exhaust exiting at the same rate so the path is never blocked by another pistons gas.

My friend used to race VW's & when he built his engine he tried different headers & if u stood in back of the car with the stock header it sounded like it was exiting twice (u could feel the air like, 1, 2, 1, 2) then he tried the other header with equal length pipe & u could hear each piston fire & actually feel all 4 bursts of air in a circular pattern. It was cool

The street version is under $500,it's the one on my avatar photo. The way cyl 1 and 2 primaries are routed are slightly changed, but otherwise the same header. It's designed to fit EF swaps,no it won't work with an A/C equipped car.

Here's the one I got for a 92+ chassis:

Ground clearance kicks ass, like a factory manifold.

My EF one is on its way, crossing my fingers that it arrives Friday.

the equal length exhaust pipes also provide the benefit of not having the exhaust gasses get colder at different times. when all the exhaust gas is the same temperature throughout the span of the exhaust piping, then they all travel the same speed, and don't slow down and get in the way of the exhaust gas behind it, thus allowing better flow and lower backpressure. goddamn i'm addicted to the physics of this shit hehe.

I would rather use that $700 to setup my engine for a set of Jun III cams. But a nice header, no doubt. :smoker2:
