Exclamation Check out this 2.0litre V8 it pumps out 320 - 380HP

Drag racers and hot rodders looking for an ultra-lightweight V8 engine for their car - or possibly bike - might like to take a look at the amazing 2.0 litre, 320 – 380 hp RST-V8 all aluminium engine which will be offered for general sale shortly through a joint venture between Firehawk Marketing and Mountune Racing. But before you get too carried away, just remember this new technology doesn’t come cheap and commands an £18,000 price tag for a complete engine.
The 2.0 litre, 74kg unit first saw the light of day in the early 90’s when it powered Gordon Murray’s ‘Lightning’ sports car. The 4 cam/5 valve per cylinder engine has a safe working race rev limit of 12,500rpm and in a suitably lightweight vehicle can result in a favourable power to weight ratio of around 610hp/ton. The unit is currently being evaluated in a Caterham and Lotus Elise and typically the V8 is 25kg lighter than the Lotus four-banger.

The cylinder heads are current motorbike castings but everything else has been designed, developed and manufactured specifically for the engine.
Key Features of the 2 litre RST-V8 engine (2.4 litre also available):-
