eclipse and bass (3 12's)

well i have 3 kicker comp vr 12 inch subs and i have a triangular box and currently they are bolted down with the subs facing the back..the trunk...i was wondering if anyone has tried turning subs the otherway and had them facing TOWARDS you if there was any significant bass gain..the only reason i am asking is cuz everything is bolted down and it's a biotch and a half to take out....so the question really is subs facing towards the trunk or towards you?

You won't get an answer here, there are apparently no audio gurus in this forum....

hey mar3 if you dont like being here leave stop complaining and maybe some of the people who know cant be on 24/7 ever think of that

wtng: my subs are angled at the glass and the dude from the aduio store said that at the glass was better than through the seats and im pretty sure itd be better than at the back but if you couldnt put them at the glass through the seat would be better id guess

Apparently, I'm going to be the Guru here, so I'll assume the mantle of responsibility and try not to be so snippy in the future. Is the box in the trunk itself? Or are the back seats gone and it's sitting there? I need to know this first before I can give you a good answer. Your initial post isn't clear where the box is bolted down. Gotta remember, I'm going to have a "RX" centric view and we have no back seat in the rexes...

Man, these guys are morons. I used to work at a sound place. A lot of people have their subs facing the back for loudness 'to the world' reasons. It started with sound in sound comps then u get the 16 year old kids wantin daddy to buy them some subs they seen at a show and naturally they are facing toward the back of the car cuz thats waht they seen. But if you personally want to feel more bass you should face them toward you. Plus in an eclipse, the sound waves will travel toward you and up so they will break when they get to you as opposed to crashing into the back of the trunk. U'll hear a very noticeable difference in sound quality if u turn them toward you.

Oooo...so much hate! Calm yer ass down, XXC....the reason subs are pointed backwards in RX-7s is because it "loads" the airspace for a bigger bump by using the transfer function of the hatch area. It becomes, in effect, an open air port. If the sub is in the trunk, you need to get a solid pathway out of that air space to get "un-muddied" bass. A nice vent through the back shelf loaded by two subs facing each other should kick some butt, but you'll need someone who has access to the software to do accurate box calculations...:bandit:

No problemo...after reading my posted-in-frustration initial reply, I can see why you reacted like that....heck, in the 2ndgen Forum of the rx7club site, you need a freakin' flame suit because of all the hate...gets real old...glad I'm in the 1stgen corner where cooler heads prevail...

Read this month's Car Audio & Electronics to see why this guy turns out to be dead wrong...there is a legitimate reason for turning them around, after all....what a moron....:frog: :bandit:
