Question cost of y pipe installation?

Does anyone know about how much it cost to install a y pipe on 96 maxima?

I just installed my WarpSpeed Y pipe on my 2K2 myself. It really shouldn't take more than an hours labor to install. I think you should go ahead and do the job yourself.

6red6white,

The pipes are not available yet. This pipe I installed is a prototype. It installed very well and the quality is excellent. Did you see my post on maxima.org?

Hey LarryS,

Thanks! I just got around to checking out a few sites like this one & I saw your very informative post about the prototype y-pipe. I have a 2000 Max & I believe that WarpSpeed has the y-pipes out for my year already. I just have not heard any feedback good or bad about the workmanship & performance of the WarpSpeed y-pipe. Their website makes you believe that if you buy any other y-pipe, you are either wasting your money or will be asking them to fix it after it breaks. I don't know that much about welding, so I don't know the diff between the Cattman or Stillen or Warpspeed Y-Pipes.

I was wondering because, it seems too good to be true, that the highest performance pipe is the strongest, best material, best workmanship & cost the least.................but it looks that way, so taking your word for it, I am going to get their y-pipe. Thanks for the heads up.

Peace Out.......................6/6

Hey LarryS,

Oh by the way, did you replace your O2 sensors & if you did, did you use a different brand than Stock? Thanks again.

Peace Out.....................6/6

6red6white,

I don't know that the WarpSpeed is the best quality pipes around because I have not seen any others but they are certainly good quality. From looking at others collectors, the WarpSpeed appears to have less restriction here. Some I have seen in pics appear to have those two pipes crushed down. WarpSpeeds is crushed but the collector appears to be opened wider at least as compared to others. As I mentioned these were prototype and I had some minor descripancies but Dallas has assured me he will fix those minor problems before any production pipes go out.

I did not replace my 02 Sensors.

Hey Funny,

Things are turning for the worst(as far as my Max are concerned). It looks like I have to take the money that I saved for Mods & use them to get a lower mortgage % rate. It now looks like I cannot get the Warpspeed Y-Pipe until next year. I will still be replacing my springs & struts, with Tokico HP's & H & R springs, hopefully soon.

Peace Out................................6/6

If you have a bad back it might be worth the cost of having it installed. Finding a place to do it could be a problem if you are working with the cats. If you can work for short periods of time then you might go ahead. It is really not that difficult nor does it require any special tools. Mine is a 2K2 so I can't speak for the 96 however. The 2K2 doesn't require the cats to be removed.
