Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

Whatsup...

Got my Y-pipe installed today. Here are my initial impressions. The engine sounds different from about 1500-1800rpms. Ive only been able to run through first gear at WOT, so honestly I cant say ive seen any difference in power.

On one of my last trounces on the pedal, at about 5500 rpm i heard i noise ive never heard before coming from either my engine or the pipe. It sounded a bit like metallic hiss. Is this normal? Note...there is no loss in power, just the noise. Maybe i just need to get out on a long stretch and wind it out to 4th gear.

Im gonna try to take it out on the highway soon and get a real impression of whats goin on.

Thus far I cant say im impressed though.

Re: Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

I installed the Cattman Y-pipe on my '03 recently and have not heard any other noises exept for the deeper exhaust note (mainly between 1700 & 2300rpm)

Re: Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

it's probably air passing through or by the flex section of the pipe. i'd say to heat wrap it at that part and see if it quiets it down.

did you notice a significant gain in power? i'm looking into either a header or a y pipe for my car and i can't decide if it's worth it.

Re: Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

Unfortunatly I had the y-pipe installed the same time I had the FastCat and exhaust done. There was a pretty good increase in power when the car was already moving, but from a dead start I didn't notice a big change. I just put on an A'pexi power intake and it made a world of difference, presumably because of the exhaust combo.

Don't get y-pipe if you have 5.5th gen. Get a headers, y-pipe is ok for 5th gen.

Re: Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

I know this forum is a bit old but this may help someone else with the same impressions of the y-pipe. I said the same thing when I installed my warpspeed y-pipe. I didn't notice any gains at all but I did notice the hissing noise. The hissing noise is normal so don't worry about it. After driving my car from NY to FL, I had a civic pull up to me reving his little s*** box up so I said what the hell. This is when I felt the y-pipe's performance. Of course I ripped the civic a new a** hole and blew his doors off. But anyway the reason you didn't feel any gains right off the bat is because the ECU has to adjust to it. You should reset the ECU once the pipe is installed. After you reset the ECU you should start feeling the difference.

Re: Got My Warpspeed Y-Pipe Installed...

Well I am about a week from sending my ECU off to Technosquare to get it reprogrammed for the modifications I have now. I may have to wait another month though. I am taking a trip to Sebring FL to see the ALMS races and Igor race the GT-R and my wife wants the money for that to come out of my car fund.
