Inside news about a future BMW...

I have from a credible source (well, hes my boss) somthing I find "awesome". Let me explain how this came up. We were detialing a new 2007 X5 4.8i ans I commented how now there is only the 3.0 I6 and the 4.8 V8. Whereas in the last gen-X5 there was the 3.0, 4.4, and 4.8 (4.8 being the sport version). So I asked why there was not 4.4 now. He said that the 4.8 is now the middle of the X5 range for the, get this, V10 version that will be released soon. It will be the same V10 as in the M5 and will have 500 hp, but since this X5 wont carry the "M" badge, it may be detuned to 450 hp or somthing. But that sort of blew me away to think an X5 will have a V10.

There's also a Proper V10 supercar coming in the very near future.

Re: Inside news about a future BMW...

Are they actually going to call it Z10?
I thought that was just the "idea test" concept and not entirely related to the real car.

Re: Inside news about a future BMW...

Oh I have no idea if it will be called Z10, but it would more than likely have the M5's V10 at leat in the M version, and the 4.8 in the base. At least the makes the most sense to me at this point. It could be called Z8, but they already made the Z8. If you look at the Z3 it was replaced by the Z4, not just a new Z3. So I wouldnt expect them to reuse the Z8 name. And Z9 makes no sense at all. Plus Z9 was already used for the concept the became the 645i. So Z10 is the most likely Im guessing.
