Depeding on the stock hood, a carbon fiber hood can shave anywhere between 10-40lbs off the curb wieght of your car. But I think most people do it for the "looks." I don't particularly care for the look on most cars, but I think it looks good on a select few.

Carbon fiber hoods are also super expensive. And people say "yah, the $3000 hood saved 32 pounds!" But then they have 200lb sound systems. Its usually for the looks. There are much better ways to go faster.

Personally, I love the look of carbon fiber hoods but it depends on what color car it's on. I think they look the best on white cars and then a close second on silver cars. On darker colors like blue or black, I don't care for them on there that much.

99.9999% of the time CF hoods are for looks. I've seen way too many ricers who try to make ppl think they got CF hoods by painting their original hood black If you were really into racing and decide to do weight reduction, you'd probably start at taking out seats, a/c, sound system, and/or getting on a diet(might actually save u some money for food... LoL)......

I see no point in CF hoods, not only are they expensive, but they also tend to break quite easily(stone chips, etc.)
