I need a little help.
Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone knew, or could point me in the right direction to find the laws in Massachusetts concerning optical prescriptions. I was almost positive that optical rx's were good for two years here, and was kinda confirmed by an optometrist's secretary today, but i'm not sure. I've been searching the intarweb, but have found suprisingly little information. I know that FEDERAL law mandates one year but states can extend this if they want. So... any optometrists in here?

Re: I need a little help.
call your Attorney General's office, or check their web site and see if you can email them the question.
they also take on consumer fraud cases if you think you've been had. |

Re: I need a little help.
hmm, I checked the Mass DMV and a couple other places online- probably got the same few results you did. Have you tried just calling up your local DMV location to ask?

Re: I need a little help.
I believe prescriptions are valid for 2 years on glasses, and only one year on contact lenses. That's federal, and I know nh follows it (my wife works for an eye doc) but I'm not sure about mass. Call an eyedoctor local to you and ask them, they should tell you what the laws are, and they are probably easier to get to than the ag's office.
