99' Chevy Silverado Pick Up

Well, with this kit, I'm planning on doing a bit of custom work.

I'm thinking of making it lay-frame (bagging it), doing a bit of custom interior work with some audio video components, an intake and exhaust or something, and making a custom air tank with air lines...

And for body work, I'm thinking along the lines of shaved door handles, tailgate, making a custom roll pan, and maybe frenching the license plate, maybe molding the bumper (not sure about that), and probably shaving the body line or something.

Still making plans and trying to figure out how i'm going to do the susp. as I've never bagged a truck before. So this is a first time thing for me.

And I got a new digital camera for xmas, so I can finally take good pictures opposed to using a crappy webcam.

its looking good. it sounds like its going to be awsome after your done with all that. as for baggin in. look at so pictures of trucks laying frame and look at the frame and you go off of that. keep up the good work

Well, I had to re-mount the gas tank, as the gas tank hung down too low. It actually hung down lower than the frame, so this would get in the way if I'm making my truck lay frame.





So what I did, was carefully cut the gas tank out, and move it up a couple millimeters.





Notice how flush the gas tank is with the frame now...




Now that I got that out of the way, I'm going to start mocking up the susp. to see if I'm going to have to cut anything etc, and get it ready to cut the c-notch/step-notch out, hopefully I don't mess up.

so far so good, less flash on the body in the first picture!

is that an extended cab suicide rear door, or a true four door regular style?

Either I'm messed up, or only the passenger side is suicide. The driver side doesn't appear to have a door handle on the rear part of the cab. (Unless thats how they originally are, I'm not to farmiliar with these particular trucks).

I've got a question, for the front suspension; Do I just go about cutting the spring/shock, and cutting the control arms, and adjusting them for the truck to lay, or do I have to go about it a different way?

Does anybody have any trucks that they bagged, could you please post some pictures of your front and rear suspension for me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Well guys, I've come to a decision I have to make before I can cut anything... Which wheels to use.

I've cut the choices down to 3, the Stock Silverado Wheels (chrome), an S10 set of wheels (center colored with a chrome lip), or a set of Toyota Supra Wheels from the fast and the furious kit (chrome).

I personally like the supra wheels the best, but I also, deep down have an eye for the s10 wheels... help me out.

Okay, Well I've decided a new plan of my final outcome for this truck.

Going to paint the body flat black/primer, the s10 rims (chrome lip) paint them red, paint the frame red, and the interior will be black and red, and the grill and bumpers will be chrome.

anyways, I moved onto doing the rear end suspension, i'm just a little confused on how i'm going to do it, lots of planning to do here...

This is where i'm at right now:


Just wondering, do I mount the shocks like this? Or cut them and just make them really short shocks and mount them using the regular mounts? (NOTE: The frame is upsie down here, not upright.)



I'll be making the step notch here, but, where i place the bag, i have no idea, can anybody open this up in paint and show me where i should be putting the bag, and also maybe put it on the top view of the suspension aswell?

i would probably build a 4 link system and put the bags on the links and build some kind of "bed cage".

What do you mean, "Bed cage"?

Alright, I've done 2 sketches with MS Paint. (A top and bottom view)

-The green being where the air bag would be. (On the far side of the frame, not between the axel and frame.)
-The pink being the c-notch
-Blue being the top part of the 4 link (top of axel)
-Red being the bottom part of the 4link (bottom of axel)

And by doing this, I would be getting rid of the leaf springs.

Well, I got the frame chopped, just have to make the step notches now; then start making the reverse 4 link.

you should sell me those S10 wheels and tires. What kit are they from !

the reverse 4 link would never work in real life, unless you ONLY used it for show. it would be so unstable it would be super scary.

I suggest looking at some lowrider truck magazines, look at some of the places to get them for real trucks for references. pay attention to the fabrication used on 1:1 builds and do similar to your truck.

My buddy just did his real truck with a trailing arm setup that utilizes the stock front leaf spring pearch and mounts the airbag behind the axle just inside the frame with a diagonally mounted panhard bar to keep everything square. it rides like a dream.

I've been told that the reverse 4 link wont work, but I've seen a couple mazda b2200's with the 4 link reversed, so .

Right now, I'm working on the step notch, I'll have to have a couple more reference pictures, but I think i'll have to do the reverse 4 link, unless i cut the gask tank right out

by bedcage i mean the tubing used as a bracket to hold the airbag in place.

Well, I've got the first part of the step notch glued in place, i'm going to have to use a bunch of putty, glue and sanding to actually make it look decent, but right now, here's the building block of the step notch.

And with the way I cut it, I cut it clean enough that if i want, i can tub the box and put that panel back in, just raise it up with some styrene.
