side sills on E36

i have a question, it may very well be a stupid one... i may be looking for a used E36 as a first car... i have noticed that some that i see have body matched side sills, and others have plasticky-looking black side sills. the body matched look much better but it probably wouldn't hinder my decission, sometimes i may see the 2 types on the same model ex: one day see a 325I with the black, and the next day see a 325I with body matched, don't think it has anything to do with car color choice. i'm in the US if it helps...

thank you in advance.

Do you mean, are the ones fitted with colour matched sills a different spec than the ones without colour matched sills?
I don't think they are, it may just be an option.
Not completly sure on that one.
Either way if you got one without colour matched sills, it isn't hard to get them painted to match.

By the way, I agree, I think thay look better colour matched.

sorry about the 2 posts

sorry about the 2 posts... but i was also wondering wich would be more reliable, the E30 or E36, i like both, but like the 36 more, my dad is one of those poeple who "get's what they pay for" so i just want something that will last me... one more thing, could someone post times for both E30 and E36... umm... 325's? just for comparissons. thanks again.

Yea, the car is mine, Thanks.

My car has done just over 160,000 kms (100,000 mls) and the only major work I have had to do so far is
the right-hand rear wheel bearings,
the electronic heater tap failed (stop adjusting the temp)
and the clips holding my drivers window broke.

None of which were to expensive to do.
Apart from that the car still purrs along.

Cheers
