ae82

is there anyone with experience with the humble 82 that could inform me as to what will go in it as far as engine transplants go. i would like to keep it looking as close to stock as possible so as to be more of an eyecatcher when it leaves the line.

Re: ae82

I'm no expert on Toyotas, but I think the AE92 is the only direct bolt in. Others will fit with mods, but if you want a direct swap, I think the 92 is your animal

Re: ae82

Proabably neither You just witnessed all of my Toyota knowledge. Wasn't it beautiful?

I might hunt around for another easy-ish swap. Both of those motors were not known for big power

Re: ae82

yeah these engines tend not to be very powerful but i believe they were built to be very strong and reliable. to get any kind of power out of one you're going to have to turbocharge it, i doubt you'll get much power from bolt-ons either, nothing to brag about. your only real advantage with these cars is that they're small and light, so you don't need as much power to be as quick as some of the more powerful cars, and they handle well. so it'll be a fun car but not a really fast one.

Re: ae82

Almost anything will fit into the old AE82 chassis, the most common swaps being the 4age and 3sg(t)e.
The wonderful Toyota V8 is a great fit, and the Honda K series has also been used.

How easy the swap will be depends of course on how far away you go from the original engine.
