About two weeks ago, 95 Cherokee started making knocking, crunchy noise when turning left or right. Doesn't do it when going straight. Talked to a fellow Cherokee owner, he said it sounded like wheel bearings to him. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I am a woman scared to take it to shop without any info, because they will definately see me coming and no telling what they will tell me.

Which side? Pin it down to the side you want inspected and you will be better off. See if they can diagnose it with out you telling them (to see if they are telling the truth). Get two opinions.
Having said that, look at some other posts here, like this one.... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=601615 |

Both sides do it.

Probably not wheel bearings then.
Look at the track bar or steering linkage joints. Try a tire and alignment shop. |

Re: Knocking when turning, please help
I assume it is 4WD. If so, replace the u-joints. Mine did the same thing till I replaced the u-joints.
