COMPLETE: Customer's Smallblock Volvo 760 GLE "The Volvord"
It was basically finished in the WIP thread, just had to add the parking lights, detail the grille and put a different exhaust tip on. Still needs a little cleaning/waxing but it's done. One of the most frustrating and satisfying builds I've done. Italeri Volvo 760 GLE, Tamiya Black, Ford 302 from a Revell '66 Mustang--license plate is a custom decal I made myself. Last pic is before I fixed the exhaust, but I wanted to show the license plate.
The customer said he changed the grille to the style you see in the final pics, with the gold surround, and the parking lights are now amber. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nice project. I like the engine bay, those blue wires set the whole thing off.

Looks great, but what are the holes in the rear deck lid for?

Who are these customers anyway, do you have people contact you and say, "Hey, bild me a......." How did you get into that? |

Re: COMPLETE: Customer's Smallblock Volvo 760 GLE "The Volvord"
Meh... I think it was just a matter of a poor selection of reference pics. I had one rear pic, but it wasn't very clear... Doesn't bother me too much, and certainly doesn't bother him!
As far as how I got into it... friends and family saw my work, thought it was awesome, I'd done some models for them as gifts and whatnot, and a bunch of them kept suggesting "you should do this for money" so I did. 90% of my business is from automotive message boards, forums, and chat rooms, as well as local cruise nights, car shows and from local enthusiasts. My online store is what will hopefully make the real money when it takes off, but this is decent money as well. |
