eBay Tamiya MP4/6 scammer...

just a head's up in case anyone's shopping for an MP4/6 on eBay. this guy is highly suspicious. he's in "malta," will accept only Western Union and, if you check his feedback, not only do the numbers not add up, but each auction he appears to have positive feedback for lists a different seller ID and the item sold is in a different city...

Re: eBay Tamiya MP4/6 scammer...

You do realise he has feedback for items he has purchased?
Hence why it's different names - he's purchasing from different people in different locations.

Of all his feedback, only the top feedback is for an item he sold.

When you read feedback, you need to look under the 'Buyer/Seller' column too, it also tells you about whether the guy buys more or sells more and also if he's buying low and selling high.

In reality, you're blowing the whistle on a completely innocent seller.

Re: eBay Tamiya MP4/6 scammer...

so why does he have feedback score of 24, all feedback listed is 29 and there are 30 comments listed? and on page two, he's got a neutral feedback that reads "Didn't ship model. Refunded money. Had parts missing." if it wasn't shipped, how's buyer know parts were missing? and why doesn't the neutral feedback appear in the feedback box?

it looks suspicious...

eBay also specifically advises against paying with Western Union.

it's just a friendly warning.

Re: eBay Tamiya MP4/6 scammer...

It's suspicious because you're probably not used to ebay.

30 comments = 29 positives and one neutral - neutral doesn't count towards total.
To explain the difference in positive score to total:
If you buy three items from the same seller and that seller leaves you feedback three times, your feedback score only goes up by one. Although the total feedback amount will show all three, the feedback score doesn't register all three.

In this seller's case, he has received feedback from the following sellers more than once:
scaledetails - 3 times
model_hobbies_co_uk - 2 times
auctionseast - 2 times
tomchina - 2 times
So, of those four sellers, he only gained 4 feedback points while he actuall received 9 feedbacks - there's your 5 point difference right there.

If you look at the feedback box itself - it only shows feedback totals for the past year - the neutral was received in Aug 2004 so it won't show there.

As to the neutral - did you read it? He didn't ship the model because it was found to have parts missing - he then refunded the guy's money - to me it sounds like he acted in good faith not bad.
If you won an auction and the seller discovered the kit wasn't complete - would you still want to pay the auction price and receive an incomplete kit?

To me there is nothing suspicious here other than the fact he's listed a kit which is being reissued in January and claiming it's hard to find

You really haven't used eBay, have you?

If you get more than 1 feedback from the same person, it's gonna count as ONE on your score.

For example, your score is 30, and you have 30 positive feedbacks. I buy 6 items from you, and I am happy with the service I got so I give you a positive feedback for each of the six items. Then, your Positive Feedbacks will be 36, but your score will still be 31.

This guy is a completely honest seller, dude. If he wasn't we'd be looking at the feedback the ebayers left him, rather than listening ot you.
