Ferrari Rosso Red?

Hey guys, I need Ferrari "Rosso" Red, which I'm thinking Dupli-color doesn't have. Is it the usual "Ferrari Red" that I can get from Tamiya or Testors, or is it something different? If so where can I find it?

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

"Rosso" is Italian for Red

That I know of, TS-8 is as good as match as any available in hobby paints.

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

Ferrari Red is really called Rosso Corsa which means "sprint red". Tamiya's closest colour match is Italian Red, but since Cobra colours is gone for now I don't really know if any other paint is closest to it.

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

The usual "Ferrari Red" in modern cars is "Rosso Corsa" (Racing Red). Nevertheless, a different shade of red was used in the late 50's and 60's, which is "Rosso Cina" (China Red), actually a Fiat color of the time.
Examples of this are the 250GTO and 250GT SWB, for instance.

Cheers,
Lusitano

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

It is my understanding, that "Rosso Corsa" changed around 1997. The earlier version was a bright red. I painted a 288 GTO in it (Cobra Colors) - it is very similar and only slightly lighter than "Guards Red" (Model Masters) . I have not used the newer version but read somewhere, that it is "more orange" than the old one. Maybe "Italian Red" is a close match.

In addition to "Rosso Corsa", which means, as mentioned before, "Racing Red", Ferrari uses a color called "Rosso Scuderia", which they actually use on their race cars. It is even brighter and more orange than the new "Rosso Corsa". It can also be ordered on every street Ferrari, at least in the last few years.

For older Ferraris from before the 1980's, you might want to match to a specific picture (if that is possible) since the colors seemed to have been a bit darker and also fluctuated (may be they used whatever was available from their vendors?).

Cheers
Jens

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

Well it's not even for a Ferrari, it's for a customer's Bugeye Sprite that was apparently painted that colour in real life. I believe TS-8 would be fine though.

Only way to be a bit sure is a pro mixing service: you'll have 200cc of color (matt base to glossy up with clearcoat) for 17-25 eurs here ($22-32) for example rosso corsa isa a cheap pastel color an I bought for approx $22, but rosso scuderia have fluo pigment and cost much more, as per metallics and pearl.

One other good way is call Hiroboy with his Zero, he're covering the whole ferrari and lamborghini charts (and more) or also ScaleColoWorks.

Re: Ferrari Rosso Red?

The latest Ferrari "Rosso Corsa" was changed in 2003, its code is 229120,
This is the Red used on the F430, Enzo, 575, 550 and 612. I have some already pre-mixed. If you want some, just order through the website or PM me.
Cheers,

Paul.
