Then today I noticed that when I come to a stop it takes a lot of rpms about 3 thousand to get the car to move when before it used to jump off from a stop once i get out of 1st gear it drives fine there is no grinding noises or anything when trans shifts my car has 201,000 miles on it. any advice of posssible causes would be great I am having codes checked tomorow.

Re: 1999 grand prix se transaxle problem Help
It is possible that you are slightly low on transmission fluid. Check the level with the car warm and parked on a level surface. If you are low on fluid, the trans will flare before engaging. I have experienced this on several different vehicles. Maybe this will be all that it takes to fix the trans.
