ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
WOW! What an awesome show.
This year was by far my most favorite Southern Nationals NNL yet. Many big names and new faces showed up this year, and it was truly a pleasure catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones. There was so much talent in the show room, and it was surely visible by what was sitting on the tables. I'm still in awe of some of the fine works of art I looked at. I managed to shoot over 500 photos. I know that I didn't shoot all of the cars on the table, but I tried. The link to the album is below, and it should have some interesting eyecandy in it for everyone, no matter what subject matter you enjoy. Please have fun browsing the photos, and PLEASE add comments to them if you built the model or have any remarks. It's always great to see feedback or additional info about the photos. Here are some samples of the fantastic cars you will see inside the album. http://public.fotki.com/CADguy/model.../southernnats/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
This years show was incredible. I've been going for three years and this year was by far the best. Not only were the models impressive, but talking with the builders was by far the most fun. Names such as Randy Derr, Dirk Joseph, Ricky Couch, Clay Kemp, David Morton, showed up just to name a few. We also had Model Cars Magazines Gregg Hutchings and Jairus Watson show up to cover the show.
I have to hand it to all of these builders that showed up this year. They are really what make the show and they are so level headed they are willing to share their tips and techniques with a new builder like myself. Hanging out with the guys before, during, and after the show is really what sets this show apart. Thanks to all who attended and entered, we look to see you and more next year! Last but not least, congratulations to all of the winners!

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
An entire huge category of nothing but Porsches- awesome! I love it! I must totally be going to the wrong NNL.
Looks like it was a terrific show.

Hey Mike
![]() Matt, looked for you at the show but somehow didn't manage to find you. The photos certainly don't do some of those models justice

Next year you have to stay longer than 15 minutes, and bring some models and enter.

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
Thanks for the pics Matt! It was our best show ever, we had a blast putting it on and visiting with everyone. Our hospitality room was packed both Friday and Saturday nights. We had 611 models actually entered, and 657 on display. The IROC display had 16 cars that were not actually entered in the show, it was an ACME club project that had 14 builders; all of the 911's were built by July for a group photo before their final decals. We counted 116 Porsches on the tables by 8:45 am, an hour before the general public would get in!
Hope to see more A/F members next year! We have categories for all models, and themes next year include "diamonds and gold" where you build cars from 1932 (75 year diamond anniversary) or 1957 (50 year gold anniversary), and we'll have a special ACME website theme celebrating the 75th anniversary of LeMans.

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
Now THAT is what I call a model car show.
Great pics Matt, thanks for sharing. I said once before that I would make a pilgrimage to this show, I'm even more determined. I may have to pencil into my diary, save up some pennies and make the trip over the pond - SAS in the USA Good to see some SAS stuff making an appearance there too, glad to see you gave the Do-Luck R34 an outing Matt. BTW, was that Mr Tonioseven I saw make an appearance in one of the pics?

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
That blue custom with the working headlights is just... amazing! One of the coolest models I've ever seen. And the Animal House tank car... brilliant! And do I spy another gravity car?? Maybe there's a new genre of modeling coming up (can we have a subforum for it?
)

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
After finally making it through all those photos, I have to say... wow. That looks like a great show! I've never seen that many Porsches! And it was pleasantly surprising to see a model that I thought (hopefully wrongly) long abandoned. Ya'll keep representing the South the right way! I love seeing what ya'll can put together. I can't wait 'till I can join ya'll.

Re: ACME Southern Nationals Model Show Photos
I´m really jealous of you show. A lot of cars, you had there. Ans what I really like is the fact that some of the models look familiar to me from browsing AF for awhile now. Again congrats on this show and thanks for all the inspiring and great pictures.
