DC Sports shifter done...

Got my short-shifter in today. What a pain. Why does it seem like every mod I do to my car requires me to remove my center console?! If I had a dollar for every time I took the center console out, I'd have another civic to work on!

Anyways, installed the shifter bushing too, but I'm still grinding, so it's probably my tranny fluid?

The throw is really nice, super short, and the way the shifter is angled, I don't have to sit all crooked to reach the shifter...

Wish I had some time to change my tranny fluid before heading to OR, but oh well...

P.S. Question: My energy suspension urethane bushings came with 3 bushings. The funky-shaped one for the Torsion bar mounts, and then 2 spacer looking bushings... I only used the one for the Torsion bar, and I'm not sure what the other two are for... Anybody know?

LOL! I had the same problem, I was like WTF are these donut looking things!? They go on the end of the stabalizer bar (where it attaches to the tranny). Its sort of hard to get at the bolt for it but you can and then just do your best to pull out the rubber bushing and putting the poly bushings in is easy since they are 2 pieces.

Congrats on installing the short shifter, they kick ass. I think your grinding might be because of worn out sychro's, and tranny fluid can only temporarily fix the grinding.

Cool, thanks for the help... The other question I have is that the bushings also came with a metal sleeve, but I didn't need it for the shifter, is that for the stabilizer bar as well?

Well... I don't know much about how syncros in the tranny work... It doesn't grind every time, but the other thing is that when its in gear, there's a fast rattle coming from the shifter. If I put some pressure on the shifter with my hand, the rattle goes away. Does that give you any other ideas?

I believe so. When I got the shifter in the mail the other day, the package said "88-95 civics"...

My friends integra with DC sports short shifter does the same shit, i dont think he has fixed it but if he has I will let you guys know what he did.

I have been trying to get him to start posting on AutomotiveForums, but he is a hardcore Honda-Acura.net guy.

I think the reason they shake is because of the ball on the shifter is smaller than the stock ball which is the pivoting point. I noticed if I tap my shifter a little it moves back and fourth with no real resistance, I never noticed that with the stock one. So I believe that is the reason. But nothing to worry about though.

It was doing all this with the stock shifter too... So, I was hoping that by installing the new bushings it would take care of that...

The bushings for the front are kind of a pain to get in. You are replacing the one piece stock bushing with the donut things. Lube a lot (use that white grease) and I was able to get at it pretty easy with two regular old wrenches..kinda a slow process, but I couldn't fit a socket up in there..as mentioned above, kinda a tight fit...but the bushings do help isolate vibrations and and stablize the whole assembly.

If you shifter is rattling, you might not have the bolt tight enough that bolts the shifter to the linkage..too tight and you can't shift, but it is a locknut so it is "adjustable" ..did your shifter come with new o-rings and stuff for all that at the bottom of the shifter? I bought a B&M short shifter...I loved the parts it came with to replace the old stuff (u pop the old sleeve out of the bottom of your stock shifter and replace all the o-rings and re-use it), however, I do NOT like the shifter itself...it needs to be angled back in the hole thru the floor..it is a straight shifter and I have to reach way up to grab the thing
