AMT. Yippee. Not.

I applaud them for trying, and hope and pray that they are decent kits. But I'm afraid that they haven't a clue. They don't know half the tools they already own, and fired all of their design team in the US. Everything now is run by people in China who are simply not enthusiasts nor know much of anything about cars or the car culture in any part of the world. And AMT and Revell should both be bitchslapped for doing subjects in 1/25th that are traditionally done in 1/24th. The Integras are fine kits, but look small, which was totally unnecessary if they were really paying attention to the market. Clueless is as clueless does.

I have a feeling Revell's diecast F&F cars may be better, but they aren't doing the Supra. They are doing the early US Civic coupe which AMT isn't. Their diecast models are decent enough since they don't bother with those crappy opening doors that never fit anyway.

Ditto mate.
I could never understand why Revell changed in the first place

As for the AMT kits....well, lets live in hope that just maybe they have there act together on this one....but sadly i think not

On the postive side its good to see them having a crack at the market that people are wanting

that eclipse sure looks crappy! its cool they made it, but I think the only people who will get a half decent job out of these is people like flyonthewall..........chris. thats because they will change 50% of the stock kit. I will be plenty happy with the revells cars, I dont even want them, but I really like the eclipse.

Heres a hint, when you look at a box, and the model from the box that was built a a true pro looks like crap.........dont buy it!!!!!!!!!!!! funny thing is, most AMT kits Box pictures are editted, theres a note somewhere on the box.

Often its a pic of the real car too! Cop-out!!!

I can't imagine we're going to be stunned by these. I will be very interested to see one alongside my transkit though.

...and bitch about poor fit, too thick windshield, dull details etc.

I think the tooling technology of AMT hasn't been updated for 3 decades or so. No Japanese kits were close to AMT, Revell or Monogram back then, but imprecise fit and thick parts, uneven windshield of recent AMT kits just disappoint me a lot. Revell on the other hand did a decent job on the ITR, but the edge of the body parts are dull, and fit is almost the same as mod. reissue of Fujimi kits.

WE SHOULD BE HAPPY THEY ARE MAKING KITS?!!! They should be happy my Brazillian ass and millions of people flock to the hobby shop to pay 30 bucks for a 1/24 scale model car when I could have gotten a 1/18, built, for 20!

a insdustry is NOTHING without consumers
