Talking Took a RSX-X

I finally got to race an RSX-X. It was close as hell though. He had me from the jump but once I hit third I pulled up next to him and took the lead. Thats how it ended up. I beat him by about 3/4 of a car. We stayed this way the whole time. I couldnt gain any more on him and he couldnt catch me. Even match once we hit higher gears.

torque torque torque torque...

Just to show, Honda just cannot build an engine with torque... Or an engine that can beat the QR.

Do you mean RSX type-S? Because those cars, in numbers anyway, done both by professional magazine editors, are supposed to be quite a bit faster than the spec V. I've seen 0-60 times as fast as 6.2 seconds for the type-S and the fastest I've seen for the spec V is only about 7.2 seconds.....or is the type-X the base model?

Don't forget that the people who test the cars for the magazines are professional drivers, and that they are given launch rpms and shift points... Some magazines like Motor Trend test cars on slicks too, at least at the drag strip.

The smaller the powerband on a car, the harder it is to race on the street. An S2000 can do 60 in easily under 6 seconds, but that doesn't mean it's easy to do it. An RSX is the same way, it makes a lot of power on paper, and has good acceleration on paper, but on the street, it falls flat on it's face, because it has no torque.

The Nissan QR 4 cylinder is quite torquey however, and easily out muscles the RSX engine, even though the RSX has a lot more top end power.

I'm somewhat leaning towards this theory as well.

Ah, the honda driver arrives to defend his brand

A SE-R spec V can nail a RSX off the line. It is pretty hard to launch screamers, because they must launch at a high rpm or they bog. If you launch too high, you smoke your tires. At the track on a good day, you could get a good launch. On the street in a spur of the moment race, you more than likely won't.

In a 1/4mile, with a really good drive who can launch it perfectly, you might see a 14 second time from an RSX. On the street, with an idiot who bought it because it's the biggest baddest honda short of the S2000(which is too expensive/hard to get), it's probably not going to do a 1/4 in 14 seconds!

It's not a very difficult concept! An engine with a 1500rpm powerband that's in the upper rev ranges is not going to be a peach on the street! On the other hand, a light weigh Nissan, with a bigger engine that has lots of low end grunt, is much more likely to have strong acceleration at lower speeds.

fuck off. Just because i drive a honda doesnt mean i dont like other kinds of cars.

The spec V is a damn fine car, but even people i know who have them say 15.2 is about the fastest they can get stock. The RSX has run as low as 14.6 stock, thats quite a bit of difference, but thats to expected, the RSX costs a substantial amount more. Both are very potent cars

Dont be so fucking quick to jump on people.

Even your fellow nissan guy agreed with me

Yeah, as I said, driver error probably played the biggest part in that race. Not knowing what RPM to launch your car runs under the category of driver error. That's why I have an automatic, runs the same 1/4 time every time, because a chimp really and truly could drive it, hooray for automatics!

Take it easy, I was joking around, note the silly smileyface and it's signifigance.

Anyhow, I was commenting on how although the RSX has a faster 1/4mile, most of that would be in the last half, and the V spec would most likely have it off the line.

BTW, I'm not a Nissan guy.

its cool dude i just know how much i hate it when bitches come into a forum and piss on any car that isnt their own, and i try my best not to do it myself.
sorry i should have said even A nissan guy, and alas hondas are not known for their torque so i would have to agree with you about the spec v getting the jump

what exactly is your car? is that the manufacturer?
